The young lizard was hanging upside down,
stuck in the bottom end of the window leaf,
her front legs spread wide open in perfect symmetry, her tail placed harmoniously on the side.
It was evident from her posture that the exact moment of her sudden death,
she was trying to enter the room from the open window.
As she was crossing the threshold,
Someone, unawared closed it.
Someone closed the window.
The lower part of the serpent, her waist and back feet,
trapped between the window sill and the ledge of the window, was crushed.
The lizard stood still, hanging upside down, dead.
Blood had run to the edge of her mouth.
However, not even a tiny drop spilt on the floor.
It was as if she had managed to hold it, in a desperate, last attempt, to keep her dignity.
